The loneliness of a combo deck player

Hi all and welcome back here. Today will be a more out-there column than what you’re used to from me by now, but I hope you’ll like it regardless. The topic today is my combo deck called Druidstorm. It is based on pumping Devoted Druids, thereby generating mana. You draw cards with Recycle, for pump spells and other cheap spells, and end the game with Banefire. There’s also a Living Wish-toolbox for finding engine pieces, fuel for the engine, or additional finishers. This deck isn’t top of the class, but fun to play with regardless. Mirrodin Besieged: Mawre Cards!

Hurray, the Mirrodin Besieged-spoiler is complete already! This is a continuing trend from recent sets, where the spoiler goes up on wednesday instead of the night before the prerelease. Anyhoo, I decided to round up my personal thoughts on the new set with giving the new cards a look. Just the cards that interest me, mind you. Let’s get to it. Worlds is here!

I went to sleep yesterday reading a few tweets about how Worlds 2010 was about to kick off. Somehow it escaped my mind that Worlds is one more day of gaming compared to Pro Tours. Probably was the time difference. I’m used to watching sunday morning coverage when it’s already later on the day here in Holland. This time, it’s the other way around, the tournament being early instead of late. When I woke up today I excitedly read all the tweets and poured over the coverage site of all the thursday coverage. Worlds 2010 is upon us and I’m bound to enjoy every bit of it. Continue reading
